Although choosing to study Urban Estates Surveying, Jean Howe, has an agricultural background. This provides her with a broad understanding of the rural and urban clients she now encounters as a partner at Kirkby & Diamond Chartered Surveyors.

Previously a partner with Roger Evans Chartered Surveyors, a long standing private practice based in Central Luton, Jean subsequently became a partner of Kirkby & Diamond in 1998 after the practices merged in 1996.

An expert in Leasehold Extension Valuations, Jean is the only chartered surveyor listed on the Government funded Lease Advice website for Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and one of only four in Hertfordshire. She is also a member of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP). Her knowledge and advice has been invaluable for both Landlords wishing to increase the value of their premises and Tenants seeking a more secure future.

Jean is a renowned Landlord & Tenant specialist taking rent reviews and base renewals through to arbitration where necessary. She regularly deals with dilapidation issues, including court appearances. As part of acquisition she undertakes surveys and prepares schedules of conditions on leasehold buildings.

Rating is a particular specialism, having completed part of her training with the District Valuer’s Office. Jean has achieved a high success rate representing clients at Rating Valuation Tribunals.

Many business clients also look to Jean for good “all round” advice on matters that affect the profitability and evolution of their business.
