Project Management in Cambridge by Kirkby Diamond

June 10, 2013

Kirkby & Diamond Quantity Surveying Team have project managed the refurbishment of a grade II 1960’s listed building for a Cambridge College.

This project involved a number of key challenges including working to very tight time scales as well as ensuring that the conservation and modernisation issues were all fulfilled to everyone’s satisfaction.

The budget set by the College was very tight and through value engineering and close attention to detail around the needs of the College and the condition of the building, Kirkby & Diamond were able to successfully deliver the building back to the College within budget and on time for re-occupation by Post Graduate students following the 2013 Easter holiday.

Managing the full design team and working with the College’s own in-house buildings team, the project exceeded the expectations set at the outset.  In addition by managing the budget well, more works ended up being carried out than assumed possible at the outset.
