The Exciting Life Of A Chartered Surveyor
July 24, 2015
The words exciting, entertaining and glamourous may not be the first words that spring to mind when you think of Chartered Surveyors. I suspect stuffy and boring amongst others would be more likely. Granted, not every job is glitz and glam, however our professional and valuation team at Kirkby Diamond has been working away on several jobs which would make many a person envious.
Partner, Jean Howe, who heads the Valuation and Professional service lines has recently been advising one of her many clients. Kirkby Diamond was asked to provide professional advice for the creation of a new access point into the EastEnders Elstree Studios site. The re-development of the EastEnders filming lot hinges on the positive outcome of Jean’s work.
The process was in-depth and required specialist knowledge which Jean and the team has in abundance. Significant research was undertaken into the layout of the site at Elstree Studios and understanding the implications of night working, versus how much simpler the re-development process would be by using an alternative access to those currently available. This, however, would interfere with Holby City filming!
Through considerable perseverance and much expertise, for once there was a happy and very undramatic ending to this ‘episode’ of EastEnders.
The Valuation team likes to live in the fast lane. When they are not looking after soap opera sets, they can be found valuing kart racing circuits. This is a specialist area, however, and between them the team was able to deliver the report and provide a photo finish for a delighted client.
Recently the professional team has found themselves on tennis courts, doctors’ surgeries and many development sites for both commercial and residential. They even have acted for the Zoological Society in London, looking at their housing provisions.
